In this candid memoir, Garrett takes you behind the scenes of high-stakes poker, sharing hard-earned lessons on performance, personal growth, and finding peace. Whether you’re a poker player or simply seeking inspiration, this book will change how you think about success and fulfillment.
I’m going to explain how having Garrett as my long-term poker coach has not only significantly improved my game, but has also enhanced so many other areas of my life beyond the felt:
I am a real estate investor and amateur poker player that plays in a large, casual LA home game. When the stakes of our game got to a level where I was losing upwards of $50k in my worst sessions, I knew it was time to make an investment in improving my play.
My philosophy in life is if you’re going to learn something, learn from the best. Garrett is my favorite player to watch on livestreams. Not just the way he dominates the tables through his aggression and elite decision-making, but also the class he shows toward his opponents and the game itself. There was no other option for me on who I wanted to learn from.
When it comes to strategy, that’s where Garrett shines. I’m sure there are a lot of good coaches who can teach you how to best utilize position; preflop ranges; optimal bet sizings; and mixing up your postflop play. Garrett’s real genius, however, comes from his ability to go beyond this; to deeply understand how you as an individual see the game. And from there, he is able to cater to your strengths, plug your leaks, and focus on the concepts that will accelerate your game quickest during your valuable coaching hours.
During our hand history reviews and theory discussions, he was particularly helpful in developing individual and population-wide attack strategies and adjustments in a game filled with crazy, loose amateurs. No training video or solver could have ever taught me how to exploit my opponents in these unique games. As knowledgeable as he is on GTO play, playing high stakes live cash goes beyond memorizing strategies.
Garrett is a real dude who understands people, which is part of what makes him both an exceptional player and coach. There is no bullshit with him. He is as much of a straight shooter as they come. He’s not there to sugarcoat things or make you feel all warm and fuzzy. He’s there to improve your game as much and as quickly as possible.
He’s also a man of principle, honor, and dedication—a true testament of character and class. Being around someone like that, these attributes are contagious. You can’t help but be influenced by his competitive spirit and meticulous approach to poker, which clearly translates to his life.
I don’t need to say this, but I will anyway: When it comes to no-limit cash games, Garrett is in the top 3 players of all time in my opinion. When it comes to his approach to life, he’s in the top 1% of people you’ll ever be fortunate enough to come across.
If you are a busy working professional like me, I can’t recommend him more if he can carve some time out for you. You’ll be learning from a master of the game.

I have been a consistent student of Garrett’s for almost two years and will continue working with him for as long as he’s willing. I work in the financial services industry and only have a few hours a week to dedicate to poker study, but Garrett helps me make the most of it so that I can be competitive in 10/25 and 25/50+ stakes live cash games. He is able to distill decades of poker experience and solver work into concise, practical advice in a way that a serious hobbyist can understand. He has an incredible mind for the game and approaches his role as coach with intensity and dedication.
It is a joy to learn from someone who has dedicated his life to achieving world class success in his craft. He is a great coach because I can tell he genuinely relishes sharing his wisdom and mentoring students like me. I offer him my highest recommendation.

I’m a busy 37 year old with 3 little kids in Los Angeles, CA. Between family life and working in real estate construction & development, my time is precious. I’m always looking for different platforms to learn and improve my game. But before meeting Garrett, I’d never found the right fit.
I regularly watched Garrett on livestreams and came away very impressed with his tactics and ability to outmaneuver pros and amateurs alike. I reached out to him and, after an initial conversation, it was immediately clear that he was exactly what I was looking for in a coach. During our many private lessons, I acquired far more knowledge than I ever had in previous coaching and seminar experiences. He broke down complicated concepts in an easy to understand way, all without spending a minute on information that wasn’t relevant toward my area of focus: mid and high stakes live cash. He was always kind yet straight to the point. He wasn’t afraid to tell me where I was going wrong in certain spots and how specifically to fix the leaks.
To this day, I still reach out to him to get his input on hands where I feel lost. Every time, he’s able to point out important factors I didn’t notice myself. He is an expert at knowing how to improve your game at the most rapid pace for those who have jam-packed schedules and only a small amount of time to dedicate to poker study.
If you get the opportunity, I highly recommend you get coaching from Garrett. It is an obvious investment for anyone trying to take their game to the next level!

I'm a 24 year old professional poker player, primarily specializing in live cash up to $20/$40 NL public—and up to $100/$200 private and on-stream games.
I reached out to Garrett because I was impressed by his track record of crushing high-stakes livestreamed cash games—an area I don't have much experience with. Garrett was able to help me build a solid preflop game plan. Postflop, he helped clean up some of my former, counterproductive thought processes stemming from the high-stakes nature and pressure of livestreamed games. Using quantitative reasoning, he offered practical strategies to better protect myself from making similar, costly mistakes in the future.
Garrett took our coaching extremely seriously and wasted no time throughout, ensuring that we maximized every minute together. He was more than happy to let me cut him off when I was ready to move on to a new topic.
Would highly recommend Garrett to anyone looking to improve at live, high-stakes cash, especially in private or streamed games.

I play medium/high stakes live poker in the US, and sought Garrett's coaching after years of trying to learn advanced concepts on my own. I've been working on my poker game for 4 years and felt it was time to elevate my skill set, but wasn't sure how best to go about doing so. Garrett definitely helped me accomplish this, without having to spend hundreds of hours figuring it out myself.
He is always prepared before lessons and is happy to answer any questions that may arise throughout the coaching process. I would argue he has a perfect balance of structure and improvisation when it comes to helping his students learn. Theory, exploits, mindset, bankroll management, he covers it all!
If you are looking to elevate your level in poker, I couldn't recommend him enough. But come ready to learn. He provides a lot of information in a short span. Good luck!
